Welcome

The Managed Realignment Electronic Platform aims to provide an easy to use, portable source of reference for Agency staff. It introduces the relevance of this coastal and estuarine management approach and presents the policies and decisions the Environment Agency have already implemented. It provides a mechanism for the dissemination of current and future Environment Agency policy to aid in providing coherence and consistency in the responses to dealing with flood risk management decisions and consultation (both to the Environment Agency and by the Environment Agency) concerning Managed Realignment projects.

An introduction to the principles of Managed Realignment is provided by the right hand side tool bar: what is MR and why implement such an approach? The left hand tool bar provides access to the main areas of the platform, the entry level of which is the Environment Agency Policy tab. The tool bar on the left side of the page also provides access to the higher levels of Government Policy and Legislation, and also provides access to the lower levels of Management Process and Reference Material. For more information on how to use this platform, please use the link below.

This platform is a tool to assist in providing and identifying information, and also provides links to those information sources. The electronic platform will not design realignments, but should provide awareness of the diverse range of policy, legislation, and issues that managing a realignment might entail. All information was current at the time of publishing, though some information may since have become old or out-of-date (all archived webpages saved December 2006); original sources of policy/legislation/guidance should therefore be relied on for the definitive versions, and the Environment Agency/Defra cannot be held responsible for the future accuracy of the contents of the platform. If in doubt, the Environment Agency contact for this platform should be consulted before relying on any information contained therein.

It is intended to update this electronic platform in the future.
